The bright red colour in the flag represents the blood of those people who died saving the independence of this Nation.It also represents sacrifice as  Thus the red colour represents sacrifice and boldness.The green colour represents the peace and prosperity. It also symbolizes the coconut palms which are in abundance in the country of Maldives. Last but not the least, the white crescent moon signifies the religion of Islam which is practiced in Maldives for over hundreds of years.
